Yesterday I picked up Pokemon Black 2 and remembered how much I had fun playing it. The game was great for trading and fighting online. This led me to consider whether Pokemon Black 2 could be played online by 2021.

You’re probably aware of this if you’ve played Nintendo DS online games like Mario Kart, or Pokemon.

While it was difficult, I still tried a Google search. After typing “Playing the Pokemon Black 2 online” in Google, the first page to show up was a Reddit article that explained how you can get around the Nintendo WFC Shutdown!

Simply go to your Nintendo DS Connection Settings and modify the DNS. It seems too simple and appealing to be true but it was actually possible to exchange Pokemon in the GTS or fight on the internet. I’m happy to know there are people with a lot of knowledge out there who can resolve what seems impossible at first. It’s still hard to find people to play online, since few people are aware of this! I truly hope that this information spreads out more to ensure a healthy online community again for the 4th and 5th generation Pokemon games!

P.S. This doesn’t work with all Pokemon Nintendo DS game, even though I am able to play online using Black 2 & Heart Gold. But I can’t go online using Pearl & Platinum.
